Takara Bio Europe Rolls Launched Shasta™ Single-Cell System for Next-Generation Large-Scale NGS Profiling

Takara Bio Europe has introduced the ShastaTM Single-Cell System at the 2024 Human Cell Atlas General Meeting, a high-throughput NGS solution for large-scale biomarker discovery in oncology research.

The  Shasta™ Single-Cell System combination of highly validated chemistries with intuitive bioinformatics tools will enable researchers to extract richer and more comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic data from an unprecedented number of cells while saving both time and expenses.

Redefining Throughput in Single-Cell NGS

The Shasta™ Single-Cell System raises the bar on throughput in NGS profiling. Its Shasta Whole-Genome Amplification (WGA) Kit significantly extends processing capability–allowing up to 1,500 cells analyzed per run–far exceeding the limits of the most current technologies, which typically process as many as 384 single cells. This advancement simultaneously scales up whole-genome amplification and allows for the direct detection of CNVs within single cells through shallow sequencing. Another great feature of the Shasta Total RNA-Seq Kit is full gene body coverage for up to 100,000 cells per run, meaning it is the first high-throughput single-cell RNA profiling kit that detects diverse RNA types, including non-polyadenylated lncRNAs, which existing droplet-based methods have been missing from covering. It is quite a giant step forward from traditional plate-based full-length RNA sequencing and high-throughput mRNA sequencing techniques.
