Telstar Launches BioMax: New Line of Large-Scale Biological Safety Cabinets

Telstar BioMax

Telstar introduces BioMax, the new extra-large biosafety cabinet (BSC) able to securely accommodate large instruments such as cytometers or robots efficiently in high-risk experiments and environments.

Telstar has launched its new product, BioMax – the latest Class II BSC by the company, for meeting the emerging needs of laboratories and workspaces. BioMax is aimed to accommodate objects taller or more in depth than 500 mm or 1.64 ft, that includes cytometers or even robots in case of automation. The new cabinet is meant for R&D, clinical trials, hospitals, and small-scale pharmaceuticals manufacturers who always maintain strict biosafety levels. It is the largest readily available BSC in the market, while there are many large custom made BSC’s built for specific purposes.

Innovative Features for Advanced Safety and Efficiency

BioMax offers additional space without sacrificing safety or functionality, whereas traditional BSCs often suffer operational inefficiencies when large devices need to fit into them. BioMax overcame this by offering a bigger chamber ensuring triple protection for the user, the product, and the environment. The design of BioMax greatly improves the workflow of the users while maintaining peak performance in areas requiring biosafety levels 1, 2, or 3.

Integration of the particle counter system from Telstar is one of the major advancements in BioMax, a characteristic that is actually required for applications working under the stringent limitations of GMP Annex 1. This prevents particulate matter in the air from reaching dangerous levels and indeed safeguards the operators against pollution caused by such impurities. This feature is very useful for those who work with very sensitive work to be done on or with biological specimens . It particularly stands out for microbiologically high-risk operations or in those processes that demand stringent control of contamination.

BioMax’s High-Tech Antimicrobial Barrier: Zerocoat

Another feature of BioMax is the incorporation of the Zerocoat antimicrobial barrier. The latter is a photocatalytic technology using titanium dioxide, which provides a self-cleaning surface, degrading organic matter by activating the light system, ensuring that all the microorganisms will have a full protection barrier for the stainless steel work surface. This feature increases the antimicrobial power within the chamber and minimizes maintenance in keeping the cabinet clean of harmful microbes for extended periods.

Furthermore, BioMax offers extremely silent operation, less power consumption, and lower operational cost, thereby making it a practical and cost-effective option for laboratories. Its ergonomic design proves to provide comfort to the user and maintains strict levels of biosafety, thereby being an ideal investment in risky environments such as microbiological research and small batch pharmaceutical production.

Meeting the Expanding Biosafety Compliance Need

BioMax answers to the increased requirements of strict biosafety measures for laboratories in various industries. The development of new ways and increase in research capabilities with a focused effort on biological safety expanded the necessity for advanced solutions such as BioMax. Its ability to house large equipment while not compromising safety or efficiency in workflow qualifies BioMax as a particularly crucial asset for labs dedicated to high stakes critical biological research.
