Tecan AC Extraction Plates for Rapid LC-MS Sample Preparation
Tecan is launching new AC Extraction Plates, designed specifically to streamline sample preparation for Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spectroscopy (LC-MS) analysis of small molecules. The plate features Tecan Immobilized Coating Extraction (TICE) technology that simplifies the sample preparation process, aiming to cut short the time involved prior to conducting LC-MS.
Preparing LC-MS samples with the new AC Extraction Plates require a simple pipette-and-shake workflow. The distinctive absorption property of TICE coating inside the wells allows it to efficiently extract specific low molecular weight analytes like vitamin D and testosterone from the aqueous solutions and release them when in contact with certain organic solvents. Sample preparation using Tecan AC Extraction Plates includes sequences of pipetting washing and shaking steps. During the course of sample preparation, the analytes present in the aqueous solution are absorbed by TICE coating inside the wells and in the following washing step, the proteins, phospholipids, salts and other unwanted molecules are removed. The analytes from the TICE coating are then eluted using a suitable organic solvent. The eluate doesn’t require any further processing and can directly be analyzed in a LC-MS system.
“These AC Extraction Plates offer a cost effective, convenient and fast way of preparing samples by eliminating the need for filtration, centrifugation and evaporation steps”
These AC Extraction Plates offer a cost effective, convenient and fast way of preparing samples by eliminating the need for filtration, centrifugation and evaporation steps used otherwise in conventional methods. These plates can be used right out of the box without any conditioning or other prior preparations. It can be easily integrated into automated processes, making it ideal for Tecan’s Freedom EVO liquid handling platforms.
