PerkinElmer Lamina for Improved Pathology Visualization

lamina slide scannerPerkinElmer has developed the new Lamina multilabel slide scanner, a flexible and improved platform for research pathologists in the study of proteins and disease markers. This new high-speed, high-throughput imaging system features high resolution images with multiple modes including brightfield, fluorescence and autofluorescence reduction.

Incorporation of Autofluorescence Reduction Technology (ARTTM) in the device addresses issues faced by researchers such as autofluorescence, a by-product of formalin fixation which could result in interference; as well as fluorophore crosstalk, an effect which often goes unnoticed whereby fluorophores bleed into multiple channels.

With its 250-slide capacity, Lamina provides faster and more accurate results in the understanding of diseases, making the development of more effective therapies possible. Lamina not only allows clearer visualization of protein expression in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues but also maximizes productivity in applications such as hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence.
