Waters Bridges HPLC & UPLC Gap with New Acquity Arc Systems

Waters Corporation is giving researchers divided between HPLC and UPLC a single system that combines both of these in one platform with the newly introduced Waters ACQUITY Arc system.

ACQUITY Arc system is the newest addition to the award winning ACQUITY family from Waters Corporation that further broadens its use case. It is a quaternary liquid chromatograph that provides analytical researchers   the option of conducting experiments regardless of the LC platform. With a switch of a button, the system using its Arc Multi-flow path™ technology can emulate a variety of LC systems, without the need to alter the method’s gradient table.

It is best defined by on the Waters’ ACQUITY Arc Page:

The ACQUITY Arc System is a quaternary-based, modern LC system for scientists working with established methods who are looking for the versatility and robustness required to bridge the gap between HPLC and UPLC while continuing to support validated assays.

To show that it really means business, Waters has documentation on the transfer of an HPLC method from an Agilent 1260 Infinity System to an ACQUITY Arc System. You can find the docuemnt here.

The Arc System is compatible with the ACQUITY QDa Detector apart from a whole new series of specially released LC detectors that includes fluorescence, UV/Vis, evaporative light scattering,  refractive index and photodiode array. Ease of use is aided by Auto Blend Plus technology that takes care of % organic and % pH gradients automatically, thereby reducing human error (We hope this becomes common is other systems).
