Labcritics is dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing scientific equipment, new techniques, startups and applications. Our tools seek to help you make better decisions and your research easier. If it is buying new equipment, ordering consumables, choosing a software upgrade for your research, running a new research crowdfunding / crowdsourcing campaign, or searching for an app that can make your work simpler, we would like to be your go-to source of information.
Our badging system helps decision makers decide what is best for their particular use case, without the need for expensive trial and error.

Our coverage is editorially independent. Sponsored and guest content is labelled as such and kept separate from newsroom reporting, and any material relationship with a company we write about is disclosed on the page. Where we get something wrong, we correct it openly rather than quietly.

Where we are heading
Our ultimate aim is to set up certification and testing laboratories where we scientifically compare and audit the most expensive and most often used equipment in laboratories — rating them on accuracy, speed, cost, ease of use, maintainability and more. Slowly but surely we are getting there.
Our more ambitious goal is to bring together an extensively curated list of contract research organizations, custom equipment manufacturers and contract drug manufacturers, and rate their setups.
We are also training an AI assistant that can provide product and service recommendations alongside live product consultations, equipped with an API to integrate with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
Who we are
Founded in 2012, we are researchers, entrepreneurs and developers from diverse fields who have experienced the slow pace of lab-tech development and the delays in spreading word about new tools. We are passionate about advancing the pace of research and making it more accessible to a wider audience.
