Promega Launches GenePrint 10 System for Cell Line Authentication

Promega has recently announced the launch of its GenePrint 10 system for sample identification and authentication of human cell lines. The GenePrint 10 system includes the eight loci as recommended by ANSI Standard (ASN-0002) Authentication of Human Cell Lines: Standardization of STR Profiling along with gender identification using Amelogenin and additional power of discrimination is offered by the highly polymorphic D21S11 locus.
The GenePrint 10 system contains all the necessary materials for the analysis by co-amplifying the human Short Tandem Repeats (STR) using a hot-start thermostable DNA polymerase and a robust buffer compatible with fast cycling and direct amplification from substrates.
Many times the tissue culture cells in laboratories are either misidentified or contaminated with other cells and it will lead to wastage of substantial amount of resources, time and effort not to mention the potential of invalidation of published data. These issues are addressed by National Institute of Health and many other journals by requesting the researchers for authentication of cell lines before granting approval or accepting for publication. Researchers can save a lot of time by using Promega’s GenePrint 10 system for authenticating cell lines, and they can dedicate more time towards advancing their research instead.
